After a long journey through bitter cold and heavy snow, Zugfrig had reached Trundrick's Inn the previous evening. The innkeeper — a pale green ogre named Trundrick — had welcomed him warmly and shown him to a modest room on the upper floor.

Now, as the first grey light of a Jort morning filtered through the frosted window, Zugfrig stirred from his rest. The small room was simple but clean: a narrow bed with thick blankets, a wooden chair, and a single window overlooking the snow-covered road below. The scent of woodsmoke and cooking food drifted up from the common room.

Trundrick would be downstairs.
